About us…
Hello, we are Judy and James. We are English and we have been living in Vasto for 15 years. We originally bought a holiday home here and liked it so much, that within 2 years we had moved here permanently. We have been renting out our holiday properties in Vasto to travellers keen to experience ‘real’ Italy, and all the delights that the town and beach have to offer.
Many of our guests have returned and are now like old friends! As well as our extensive local knowledge, we also provide a full information brochure with areas of local
interest, maps, recommended restaurants and a full program of events for during your stay. We also live close to both our property, so we are on hand with help and advice for our guests if needed. We meet and greet each and every guest on arrival, to welcome them to Vasto and show them to the property. We also now offer contactless check-in on request.
Our holiday rental property is located in the historical center of medieval Vasto, Abruzzo, Italy. Vasto is on the Adriatic coast in the Chieti region, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Vasto town is built on the Roman ruins of Histonium, and is a medieval town with great charm and character. Vasto has been an important city since Roman times – the Roman baths and part of the original amphitheatre are still to be seen – and the character and history are everywhere in the Centro Storico (historical center) where our casa is located. The town overlooks the beach of the Golfo D’Oro (golden gulf) with views down as far as the Gargano peninsular – the spur on the boot of Italy to the right, and the nature parks of Punta Penna and Punta A’Derci to the left. You can walk down to the closest beach in 15 minutes, or take the 5 minute bus ride to the huge sandy marina beach where you can hire sunbeds or have lunch in one of the many beach club restaurants.
There is plenty to see and do in the town itself, churches and cathedrals, museums, art galleries, the Roman baths with mosaics, a medieval castle, the lovely park with play area and the beautiful imposing Palace. There is also a running track, a tennis club, indoor swimming pool and a gym, all within a few minutes walk of our centrally located property. Team all that with the fantastic restaurants, bars, cafes, shops, markets and boutiques, all on your doorstep, and you have a perfect holiday destination whether it be for a short city break or a fortnight on the beach.
There really is no need for a car here as everything for a perfect holiday is located within a few minutes of our property. The local transport is cheap and easy with buses running up and down to the beach, plus coaches to Rome, Naples and other parts of Italy. The trains are cheap and run up and down the coastline. A holiday in Vasto is experiencing ‘real’ Italy away from the tourist resorts, almost no English is spoken here, so don’t forget your phrase book!
